ABSTRACT
From 1994 to 1996, the Nuffield Foundation of the United Kingdom supported a joint project between the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine (Imperial College) and the United Kingdom’s National Museum of Science & Industry at the Science Museum (London) (the Science Museum) to study the possible deployment of volunteers in the interpretation and dissemination of science. This chapter reviews what was learned from the pilot projects mounted with Nuffield support.
