ABSTRACT
During the final phase of his competitive career, Cantona won five championships, one with Leeds United and the others with Manchester United, was fined and suspended three times-for a miscellany of offenses, including spitting and fighting with fans and police officers-and was voted the Footballer of the Year by the British Football Writers’ Association, in 1996.
