ABSTRACT

Martha Nussbaum is Professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago. Her many publications include The Fragility of Goodness: Luck and Ethics in Greek Tragedy and Philosophy (1986), Love's Knowledge: Essays on Philosophy and Literature (1990), The Therapy of Desire: Theory and Practice in Hellenistic Ethics (1994), and Poetic Justice (1996). She also edited, with Amartya Sen, the collection The Quality of Life (1993). She is currently working on a theory of the emotions.
