ABSTRACT

Up to this point there is reason to believe that these observations apply with considerable exactitude to adolescents in general. Markedly physiological changes occur in all young people in the period of physical development from childhood to adult status. Identical characteristics are not shown by all adolescents; but the sequence of bodily growth indicated by these findings appears to be more or less universal. Puberty and the transition to physical maturity are accompanied by these phenomena in widely separated districts, in very different types of homes, and under very diverse climatic conditions.
