ABSTRACT

Key Concepts in the Philosophy of Education is an indepth glossary which, it is hoped, will provide students and teachers of philosophy of education and other people interested in the subject, with a useful reference book on key theoretical terms and, where appropriate, the various debates surrounding them. The glossary also gives historical overviews of key debates. The entries vary in length according to the importance the authors have attached to each topic. They have been selected through the authors’ experience of what is needed for a comprehensive course in the philosophy of education, through comments and suggestions from Routledge referees, colleagues and students, and, finally, to a careful survey of the literature in the philosophy of education over the past forty years.
