ABSTRACT

In our nurseries and playgroups, in our crèches and daycare centres, are children who come from a wide range of backgrounds, having a set of diverse experiences and often speaking languages other than English. We will encounter boys and girls, black and white children, Muslim and Jewish children, children who may have visual impairment or speech delay, advantaged and disadvantaged children. Every setting for young children offers to some extent this rich diversity of culture, language, class, gender and experience.
