ABSTRACT
Computational linguistics (CL) is a relatively new discipline that emerged in the late 1940s, with the works of Shanon and Weawer on Information Theory and with the development of the first computers. This discipline is the result of the collaboration between linguistics and computer science, as well as other related areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive science.
