ABSTRACT

There is widespread interest in international comparisons of income distributions and poverty. In recent years mere has been an expansion of comparative work using microdata of different developed countries. Much of this work has focused on the problems encountered by researchers in their efforts to compare microdata collected by different organisations using different languages in different countries (see Atkinson et al, 1995).
