ABSTRACT

Our world seems to be one in which people are increasingly conscious of their ‘rights’ and this has both direct and indirect consequences for children.

Some women whose fertility has been switched off by their biological clocks, decide that they want the ‘right’ to have a child. Some couples who are infertile want the ‘right’ to have a child who may be related genetically to both, one or neither of them. Two women who love each other or two men in a homosexual relationship may want the ‘right’ to have a child.
