ABSTRACT
Nobody within a discourse of meeting needs talks about the mother; what effect being ‘constantly
available’ might have on her. No one talks about how she must constantly struggle to maintain
the rich environment of which she is guardian or how much hidden effort is made; while the
child is enjoying ‘liberation’ and autonomy, this to some extent depends on the mother’s
oppression.
