Many American business executives and their accountants have followed closely the protracted process of ratifying the Seventh Directive l and transforming it into the national laws of the EC member countries. Their interest was sparked by concern about the impact of the Community's consolidation standards on
• the competitive position of American corporations in the global market,
• the US economy, • American accounting practices and • international harmonization efforts in accounting.
