ABSTRACT

We know the story: Moses came down from the mountains. Under his arm he carried the rules, engraved in granite, dictated to him by one even further up than the mountains. Moses was only a messenger, the people-the populus-were the receivers, controlled from far above. Much later, Jesus and Mohammed functioned according to the same principles. These are classical cases of ‘pyramidal justice’.
