ABSTRACT
This chapter deals with the state of the art of science and technology indicators with particular reference to the most advanced countries. An attempt is also made to identify future prospects in the measurement of key dimensions of a society and an economy which is increasingly based on knowledge. The indicators under examination have been divided into two groups.
