ABSTRACT
When a freshman male comes to MECHA, he is approached and welcomed. He is taught by observation that the Chicanas are only useful in areas of clerical and sexual activities. When something must be done there is always a Chicana there to do the work. “It is her place and duty to stand behind and back up her Macho!” This is the attitude of a great many “heavies” in a Chicano organization and it greatly influences the rest of the Chicanos.
