ABSTRACT
With the intensification of the Maccabean struggle and its successes, the pendulum swung the other way. While in the period of the decrees and the supremacy of the Hellenists the Seleucid supporters gained land at the expense of the rebels and their sympathizers, so during the ascendancy of the insurgents the rebels gained land at the expense of the Hellenizers.1
