Wilson (1895–1972), an important American critic, wrote extensively on Eliot, including T.S. Eliot, ‘New Republic’ (13 November 1929), 1x, 341–9, a fuller version of which appeared in ‘Axel's Castle’ (1931). He wrote on Eliot as poet and public figure in ‘The Bit Between My Teeth’ (1966), and on ‘The Waste Land’ drafts in ‘The Devils and Canon Barham’ (1973).
