ABSTRACT

Like Mahattan Transfer, this book is experimental in form. It contains four series of compositions, arranged like a scrapbook with no apparent order. These are: (1) short biographies of noted Americans, told in a form bordering on free verse, with considerable seasoning of Menckenesque irony; (2) ‘news-reel’; (3) ‘the camera eye’; and (4) five tales, told in excerpts, about two hobos, a publicity man, and two working girls.
