James E. Heath (1792–1862), a Virginian lawyer, editor, and minor man of letters, wrote the notices of ‘Berenice’ and ‘Morella’. Poe believed a Mr Pleasants wrote the notice of ‘Hans Phaall’–see Letters, 1, 65.
