Frost (1800–59), a teacher and magazinist in Philadelphia, was described by Poe as ‘a gentleman of fine taste, sound scholarship, and great general ability’ (Works, 15,243). Poe identified the reviewer in Letters,I, 125, and in the Saturday Museum.
