Hewitt (1801–9o) was a musician, poet, and journalist. A good deal of animosity existed between him and Poe, possibly stemming from this review: Poe satirized him in ‘A Decided Loss’ (1832),and they quarrelled over the Saturday Visiter prize in 1833
