ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses aspects of the management and organisation of pupils in the music classroom. There are many generic issues addressed in Learning to Teach in the Secondary School (Capel, Leask and Turner 1999), which do not need to be rehearsed here but to which you should refer. We now cover those aspects of management and organisation which are particularly pertinent to the teaching of music. Behaviour management is a concern to all student teachers and of particular concern in a practical subject such as music.
