ABSTRACT

This book is a companion to learning how to teach music. It is intended to provide support, guidance, ideas and challenges for student teachers, mentors, trainers and teacher educators of all types. By the time the book is published there will be a variety of routes into music teaching including full time study, part-time study, graduate teacher, registered teacher and modular PGCEs. Student teachers and teacher educators in these wide variety of circumstances do not require a manual, for their needs are all very different. This book therefore does not take you stage by stage through the process of learning how to teach music (even if this were possible); instead, it is intended to be used after you have ‘audited’ your own particular needs in your own specific circumstances.
