ABSTRACT
This chapter provides a detailed case study of central bank reform in Poland. Section 2 considers the new policy environment in the 1990s and the institutional reforms introduced over this period. Section 3 outlines the present constitutional status of the National Bank of Poland (NBP), including its structure and management, concluding with an assessment of its political and economic independence using the standard index-based measures.
