ABSTRACT
The ‘National Convention of the Industrious Classes’ was a body consisting of elected delegates, who met to decide upon the best means of implementing the People’s Charter. It ran parallel to the Westminster Parliament and as the delegates considered their body to be the more genuinely representative of the two, some of them proudly placed the letters ‘NC’ after their names.
