ABSTRACT

Without question, these are outstanding papers. I have read them with a distinct feeling of pride because most of the authors were my students here at R.P.I. It is hard to believe that the green kids who reported for their first semester in graduate school with so little confidence, such confused looks on their faces, such profound worries about financial survival, wondering if the high tuition at R.P.I. would be worth it and if graduate school would be too difficult and demanding, are now accomplished scholars. In fact, it might be heartening for those of you who are now graduate students to eavesdrop on some of my recollections of these prominent psychologists as they proceeded with their graduate work.
