ABSTRACT
Over the past few years there have been many externally imposed educational reforms: local management of schools, teacher appraisal, school development plans, National Curriculum, standard assessment tasks, assessment reporting and recording. There are radical changes arising from the Dearing Review published in 1993 and implemented from 1994. The OFSTED inspectorate gives schools a framework in which to examine the effectiveness of their organisation.
