ABSTRACT

Once upon a time, an old man with pink-veined cheeks and a gray mustache met again with his fellow professors at the Faculty Club. A dozen academics in bow ties milled about, smoking cigars and pipes, or relaxed in leather armchairs, as one scholar languidly played a Chopin waltz. Or maybe they did something else-they didn’t want us to know what. They had divided their world into the world ‘Here’ and the world ‘Out There’.
