ABSTRACT
What is cultural diversity actually good for? The value of diversity may have become so entrenched in contemporary rhetoric about culture that we rarely take time out to reflect on it. Yet let us try to look at it as a matter of global cultural policy, as it were. What, in reasonably unambiguous and down-to-earth terms, are the advantages or disadvantages of cultural diversity?
