ABSTRACT
This chapter will seek to explain the position of the German economy, in particular whether the competitive advantage that made the ‘economic miracle’ possible has been lost and whether the country faces a less prosperous future. First, it will be necessary to examine those factors that are regarded as having a debilitating effect, before any more positive aspects are considered.
