ABSTRACT

In chapter 4, we examined the relation between the valence (i.e., pleasantness or unpleasantness) of an event and one’s recall for that event and the relation between the evaluative intensity of an event and one’s recall for that event. The variables of valence and evaluative intensity are also of interest in the domain of event dating. That is, a reasonable question concerns the extent to which the valence and evaluative intensity of an event are related to the accuracy (or error) of the date provided for the event.
