ABSTRACT

Pupils likely to be excluded from school are often the concern of several support agencies such as the education welfare service, social services, the educational psychological service, peripatetic support services, off-site unit staff, and so on. As permanent exclusions seem to be widely regarded with disfavour, it is preferable to attempt to prevent them. Where they do occur, rapid resolutions are needed so that pupils miss as little schooling as possible. This suggests that the various agencies should collaborate.
