ABSTRACT
Upon entering the HumRRO Building in Alexandria, Virginia, I encountered a challenging problem. I entered at the ground level, walked into an elevator, and pressed the button marked “4” in order to get to the fourth floor. The button didn’t light, but the door closed. Instead of ascending, the elevator descended, and took me to the parking level. I reentered the elevator, and again pressed the button marked “4”. The button didn’t light, but the door closed. I pressed the “Door Open” button. The door opened, and I walked out. I tried to summon another elevator, but none of the others would come because one was already here. Clearly there was something wrong with this elevator.
