ABSTRACT

The clusters of papers dealing with conceptualizing and measuring individual differences are intended to suggest future directions for military selection and classification—in both research and practice. Do these papers succeed in providing information useful for that purpose? I believe they do. At the very least, these papers stimulate thought about basic issues in personnel assessment and selection. The ideas these contributions stimulated for me are discussed in this chapter. I attempt to present them in a manner that I hope will be helpful for determining future research and practice.
