ABSTRACT

Writing is not a set of abstract transcendental marks but rather a concrete, material activity located within particular textual practices each with its own characteristics and therefore its own form and content of writing, its own unique texts. Education writes in its own way – it has, in other words, its own textual practices. For example, because in education there is always an intertwining of theory and practice, its writing cannot slip free from practice to live within a timeless, decontextualised world of general theoretical knowledge.
