ABSTRACT
Each prima-facie case is plausible, but which is the most defensible? That question is not easy to answer. Our attempt to answer it will take us over rugged argumentative terrain. Before we venture further into this treacherous landscape we should briefly discuss human experimentation, for some people might wonder why experiments on non-human animals are carried out when we are trying to gain information about human disease. Why not just experiment on humans?
