ABSTRACT

Relationships between the NUPB&PW and the TA, governed by a Reciprocity Agreement, were good. For many years the Printing Machine Branch (PMB) of NUPB&PW sought to include vertical Miehle machines in the Reciprocity Agreement to bring it into line with that between itself and the LTS. Until the 1950s the TA opposed any extension of the scope of the agreement and insisted it be confined to platen machines. However, in the mid-1950s, the TA concluded that little would be lost by allowing vertical Miehle machines to be included in the Reciprocity Agreement. In April 1955, the agreement was widened to effect this.
