ABSTRACT

This chapter combines two hitherto separate research areas, namely, research on children with specific language impairment (SLI) and research on second language (L2) acquisition. Direct comparisons are made between children with specific language impairments and children learning a second languge who are approximately the same age. The data has been collected and analyzed within the same research project. Such direct comparisons have, to our knowledge, not yet been pursued, not even in an international perspective.
