ABSTRACT

We have all had days similar to Geena’s. On one occasion in the days of graded observations, I was given the dreaded ‘grade 3’. Once I’d calmed down, I had to agree. On that occasion I had prepared fully and had good resources, but I had also been away working all weekend for the exam board. Thus when things didn’t go according to plan early on in the lesson, I was too tired to respond. I hadn’t yet realised the signifi - cance of energy. The second main theme of this book is energy. These chapters look at how we can preserve our energy so that this magic ingredient in our teaching is not lost.
