ABSTRACT

On 29 October 1969 General Franco formed the last government over which he presided in person. This government remained in power until 8 June 1973. It was known as the ‘monocolour government’ because eleven out of the nineteen appointed ministers were members of Opus Dei or closely connected with that organization. The Vice-Presidency remained in the hands of Admiral Luis Carrero Blanco. Gregorio López Bravo was transferred from the Ministry of Industry to that of Foreign Affairs; the new Minister of Industry was José María López de Letona, the man who succeeded in bringing the Ford Motor Company to Spain.
