ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between Carl Menger and Wilhelm Roscher using unpublished papers written by Menger in the 1860s. These papers, the Menger Papers, now housed in the Special Collections Department of the Perkins Library, Duke University, cast new light on the interpretation of Menger’s Grundsat^e der Volksmrtschaftslehre (see Barnett 1990).
