ABSTRACT
Among the plethora of concepts of mental objects examined in this study, Winnicott’s concept of the ‘transitional object’ no doubt deserves a special place. While it would seem that this concept has had even more influence outside psychoanalytic theory proper than on psychoanalytic theory itself, yet it is an important concept, one that has retained its relevance over the years.
