ABSTRACT

Psychotherapists are not a breed apart. We bring with us in our work with patients a network of dependencies that are based on early experiences of our own formative relationships. To be sincerely and closely accepted by another person is a heady and seductive experience, something that one finds almost irresistible. Patient and psychotherapist present pathologies which are analogous to each other. This is, in some ways, an essential condition for the relationship.
