ABSTRACT

Ideas, of course, vary in many ways, from precise to imprecise, from simple to complex. So from the start we know that their discussion will lead us into subtleties.

IDEAS VS. OBJECTS What are ideas? No one asserts that they 'have' a physical reality in the way that discrete objects do. Nor are they consumed as apples are. Rather, they are possessed in the same way as anticipations, emotions, fears, and memories. In sum, they constitute a large portion of consciousness. None the less they are sometimes quite kernel-like and rigid in nature. The question is: do they extend below and above the human?
