ABSTRACT
In certain nation states, notably Japan, France, the Netherlands and Singapore, comprehensive strategies blending urban, industrial and telecommunications policies have been used over the past fifteen years in an attempt to create new and futuristic cities and urban spaces. The Japanese case is examined in Box 9.1.
