ABSTRACT
Philosophically, there seems little theoretical agreement as to a definition of this term or as to ‘where’ exactly meaning resides. Indeed, this lack of agreement is so marked that some philosophers would question its very existence. An understanding of this lack of agreement is perhaps best grasped by examining the historical development of the term.
