ABSTRACT
In this chapter we discuss various concepts of time and their cultural biases, including those of Indian philosophical systems, in some detail. Time is allpervasive in archaeological and evolutionary processes and we attempt to locate a connecting matrix of time so as to encompass physical, biological, archaeological processes, and even the Prigoginian world of dissipative structures. This analysis of time may in fact provide a holistic philosophy of archaeology, a synthesis of all the schools and a bridge between history, biology, cosmology, moving us towards a theory of everything.
