ABSTRACT
This chapter explores the trends in the Swedish planning system over the last fifteen years or so. The aim is to show how the distinctive features of the Swedish approach to the welfare state have moulded the planning system. In recent years there has been considerable discussion over the future of this approach against the background of economic and political uncertainty.
