ABSTRACT

The main theme in this section is the thesis that the effects and effectiveness oftelematics depend to a large extent on the conditions for conceiving, designing and implementing the new systems. The authors in this section try to draw lessons from earlier experiences with the design of computerized systems and to prevent failures that have been encountered. Several reasons for this failure can be found in the literature, such as not meeting the expectations of users, inadequately managing the implementation process or designing the human interface badly.
