ABSTRACT

SUMMARY Organizational constraints are a considerable barrier to the up-take of current teleinformatics systems. We can expect these systems to become more powerful and sophisticated. This paper presents two scenarios from a user perspective of the situation when advanced teleinformatics systems become available and concludes that, in these situations, organizational issues could become critical issues preventing effective use of system capability. To avoid this outcome recommendations are presented which would ensure human-factor considerations are fully integrated into the variety of design processes which lead to the system employed by the end user.
