ABSTRACT

In the preceding four sections, we have examined in some detail the distributional links (or lack of them) between genitive phrases on the one hand and Ns, Ps, As and Ds that bear an -L enclitic on the other. In this section and the following two, I propose to explore the kinds of theoretical treatments that the theory of Government and Binding and the minimalistic programme make available with respect to generalizations uncovered in earlier sections.
